Cyril Tysz

Writer, Story editor, Producer (France/USA)

Born in Paris, Cyril first studies filmmaking at Sorbonne, then at UCLA, where he is granted the Alan Jacobson Award for best first student short film. He then learns hands on production on the sets of Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands and Laurence Kazdan’s produced film Dizziness. After serving in the French army as camera operator and director, Cyril works on various film sets as U.P.M. or A.D. while obtaining a graduate degree in film and TV law and administration from Sorbonne. He then starts focusing on screenwriting and development for companies such as PANDORA, ARTE, CANAL PLUS, EQUINOXE and TELE IMAGES.

After a few years as a development executive in Paris, he decides to specialize in international projects. Granted with Sacem/WGA French American Fund, Lurcy and Fulbright prestigious scholarships, he returns to UCLA to get his MFA in screenwriting and producing while serving as the university’s liaison with Fox, Paramount, Peter Guber’s MANDALAY and Jodie Foster’ EGG PICTURE. He also joins the domestic theatrical distribution department at 20TH CENTURY FOX where he collaborates on the marketing of Anastasia and X-Files, the movie.

He then switches from film to television production and works with Monk series producer, David Hoberman and various VPs production at FOX TELEVISION. There, he gets involved with development and production of TV shows such as Dharma & Greg, Stark Raving Mad, Titus, Life’s too Short, while working with the technical staff of Buffy, X-Files, NYPD Blue

In Los Angeles, Cyril also co-produces, along with B. Clinton and A.Gore’s head of campaign, the award winning feature political mocumentary Bottomfeeders and co-writes several feature films, historical biopics and science fiction thrillers.

After working for several months at Studios Babelsberg in Berlin, Cyril heads back to Paris where he becomes co-artistic director of Futurikon. There he is in charge of developing several animation series and features, including Dragon Hunters.

He then becomes a full time independent screenwriter, headwriter and story editor. He writes, adapts for the screen or supervises the scripting of more than 40 TV I.P.s such as Marvel’s Fantastic 4 and Iron Man, Casper, Spirou & Fantasio, Jet Groove, Gormiti, Samson & Néon, Invisible Man, Le Marsupilami, Baskup Tony Parker, The Linkers, Trolls de Troy, Xiaolin Chronicles, Luc Besson’s Arthur & Minimoys, Playmobil franchise based Super 4, Nils Holgersson, etc.

Meanwhile he produces Brumes, directed by his co-writer Guillaume Enard (awarded at L.A. Horror festivals and multi broadcasted on Universal’s network 13ème Rue), and develops five feature films and a couple of web and TV series with him.

Very recently, Cyril acted as head-writer for the adaptation for France TV/Studio 4 of the first two seasons of Norwegian TV and multiplatform hit series SKAM.

Cyril also teaches series development at Paris-based Sorbonne, INA and CEEA, as well as at DFFB-based SERIAL EYES program in Berlin, where he collaborated to the development of over 60 participants’ projects over the past few years.
