Ellis Freeman

Ellis is a screen­writer born in Lon­don and cur­rently liv­ing in Ber­lin where he is Head of Screen­writ­ing and Devel­op­ment at the DFFB. His screen­writ­ing cred­its include the fea­ture Princesa, which screened at Sund­ance and won best for­eign nar­rat­ive at the LA Out­fest, the com­edy fea­ture Janu­ary 2nd and the acclaimed short Com­ing Down. As script con­sult­ant, he has worked on many films includ­ing Hen­rique Goldman’s Jean Charles, Laura Plancarte’s doc­u­drama Tierra Cali­ente, and Almost Heav­en, Car­ol Salter’s fea­ture doc­u­ment­ary. Ellis began teach­ing screen­writ­ing at the Lon­don Film School where he developed his highly suc­cess­ful Writer’s Gym, a series of cre­at­ive writ­ing work­shops for screen­writers, dir­ect­ors and pro­du­cers.  He has also held work­shops at the Binger Filmlab; the AFI Con­ser­vat­ory in Los Angeles; the Scuola Hold­en in Tur­in; the Lux­em­bourg Audio Visu­al Centre and at Ber­linale Tal­ents.
