Serial Eyes attended this year’s MIPTV market from 3 to 6 April 2017 in Cannes, France. Under the warm glow of the Mediterranean sun, the participants met key decision-makers in the international TV industry. In preparation for the trip, the participants had previously contacted producers and broadcasters, and then used the time at MIPTV to present their projects in a series of individual meetings with companies such as Gaumont, Leone Films, Mediaset, Network Movie, Skybound Pictures, and MBC, among others.
MIPTV was also the occasion to catch up with Serial Eyes faculty, such as Atlantique Productions’ managing partner Jimmy Desmarais and showrunner Frank Spotnitz. The latter gave the participants some very useful advice for the fast-approaching Final Pitch on 11 May at Soho House Berlin.
Another highlight of the Cannes trip was the German MIP Cocktail organized by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and Film- und Medienstiftung NRW. With over 400 guests present, the event was the perfect occasion for meeting up with other professionals against the backdrop of a gorgeous coastal scenery.
Who would have thought that the daily labors of a writer could be so much fun?
