Samantha Biffot is a Franco-Gabonese director, screenwriter and producer based between Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire. Raised between Asia and Africa, this duality shapes her work, starting with her debut documentary THE AFRICAN WHO WANTED TO FLY (2015), filmed between Gabon and China and nominated for Best Documentary at the Trophées Francophones.
A graduate of ESRA Paris, she was head writer and director of the African adaptation of France 2’s PARENTS MODE D’EMPLOI (TV5 Monde). She created MAMI WATA: IVEZA MYSTERY, a Canal+ Afrique original, as showrunner, head writer and co-director the series was awarded at Fespaco and selected at the Festival de la Fiction de La Rochelle 2021. She also co-created LE FUTUR EST À NOUS, a 180-episode saga for Canal+, also selected at La Rochelle.
Convinced of the vast potential of stories born from Africa–Europe’s intertwined histories, she navigates genres from comedy to thriller. Her first fiction feature as a producer is currently shooting in Rwanda.
