Sam­antha Biffot

France/Gabon

Sam­antha Biffot is a Franco-Gabonese dir­ect­or, screen­writer and pro­du­cer based between Gabon and Côte d’Ivoire. Raised between Asia and Africa, this dual­ity shapes her work, start­ing with her debut doc­u­ment­ary THE AFRIC­AN WHO WANTED TO FLY (2015), filmed between Gabon and China and nom­in­ated for Best Doc­u­ment­ary at the Trophées Francophones.

A gradu­ate of ESRA Par­is, she was head writer and dir­ect­or of the Afric­an adapt­a­tion of France 2’s PAR­ENTS MODE D’EMPLOI (TV5 Monde). She cre­ated MAMI WATA: IVEZA MYS­TERY, a Canal+ Afrique ori­gin­al, as showrun­ner, head writer and co-dir­ect­or the series was awar­ded at Fespaco and selec­ted at the Fest­iv­al de la Fic­tion de La Rochelle 2021. She also co-cre­ated LE FUTUR EST À NOUS, a 180-epis­ode saga for Canal+, also selec­ted at La Rochelle.

Con­vinced of the vast poten­tial of stor­ies born from Africa–Europe’s inter­twined his­tor­ies, she nav­ig­ates genres from com­edy to thrill­er. Her first fic­tion fea­ture as a pro­du­cer is cur­rently shoot­ing in Rwanda.
