BEST PRACTICES
THE CONCEPT
Serial Eyes partners-up with Frank Spotnitz (producer) to launch Best Practices, an online series of conversations with Europe´s industry leaders. These roundtable discussions aim at debating and identifying best practices in all aspects of the industry, from script development and commissioning to production, post-production, distribution and marketing. The format tackles the world-wide urgent need for greater, better communication amongst professionals, given the rapid economic and technological changes taking place in the industry. Addressing the many pressing issues of the industry – including artificial intelligence, diversity and representation, and sustainability – each online session under the leadership of Frank Spotnitz will present a concrete exchange on best practices. These discussions will be announced on our social media and can be watched live, but we deliberately record it in order to provide a greater audience access to it.
MISSION STATEMENT
BEST PRACTICES and the group of professionals behind it commit to the following principles:
Best practices matter, creatively and economically. Best practices are more likely to generate work that gives viewers greater enjoyment, and therefore attracts a greater audience. A well-told film or series is likely to have greater staying power and a more enduring after market.
Studios and broadcasters should work in collaboration with producers, directors, and writers to ensure they are able to deliver their best work. This means identifying and engaging in practices that support good work in substantive ways.
A rising tide lifts all boats. Improving the way we work together benefits not just the person or company doing that work, it benefits all of us. By defining and creating a higher standard that we all strive to adhere to.
Beyond the work we create, we as an industry must strive to uphold a professional culture that promotes responsibility, ethical behaviour and integrity.
