Based in Berlin since 2017, Saar is a producer and script editor working across features, drama series, and documentaries. He is co-founder of Black Sheep Film Productions (Tel Aviv, 2010) and Electric Sheep GmbH (Berlin, 2018). Titles from both companies have premiered at festivals including Cannes, Venice, Berlinale, Toronto, Series Mania, and Busan, received over 100 international awards, and have been distributed worldwide.
In television, his credits include Dismissed, a three-season dramedy that won the Israeli Television Academy Award for Best Series twice in a row; Innermost (Series Mania, Best Actor); and Mama’s Angel (Series Mania, International Competition). His film credits include One Week and a Day (Cannes Critics’ Week, Gan Award), Fig Tree (Toronto, Audentia Award), Chained (Berlinale, Israeli Academy Award for Best Director and Best Actor), and Victim (Venice, Toronto, Producers Award at Filmfest Hamburg; Slovakia’s Academy Award entry). He also wrote and produced the acclaimed documentary The Return from the Other Planet.
Alongside producing, Saar works as a script editor and development consultant. He serves as a guest consultant at the Berlinale Co-production Market, Connecting Cottbus, and First Cut Lab, and as a script mentor at development labs for Central Asian filmmakers.
He headed the Entrepreneurial Producers program at the Sam Spiegel Film & TV School from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, he led the productions division of Jerusalem Capital Studios – the largest production company in Israel at the time-and served as Executive Producer of the Jerusalem Film Festival.
Saar holds a BFA in Film & TV from Tel Aviv University (1998) and is an EAVE alumnus.
