Benjamin Harris

Head of Programme

Ben­jamin Har­ris is Head of Pro­gramme for Seri­al Eyes. As such, he is respons­ible for the cur­ricular and admin­is­trat­ive over­sight of the pro­gramme.

Pri­or to that, Ben­jamin was the Assist­ant Dir­ect­or of the MFA Pro­du­cers Pro­gram in the UCLA School of Theat­er, Film and Tele­vi­sion for elev­en years. He is a trained pro­du­cer and a film and tele­vi­sion indus­tries schol­ar, and he teaches classes on story devel­op­ment for fea­tures and tele­vi­sion, cre­at­ive pro­du­cing, and the US and inter­na­tion­al media indus­tries.

Ben­jamin has designed exec­ut­ive sem­inars on the US film and tele­vi­sion indus­tries for Chin­a’s State Admin­is­tra­tion of Radio, Film and Tele­vi­sion (SARFT) and for Pek­ing University/Jade Bird Inter­na­tion­al. He has taught sem­inars and lec­tures for Insti­tut d’Audiovisuel National/ Sor­bonne University—Panthéon, France; UNIJAPAN and Min­istry of Eco­nom­ics, Trade and Industry (METI), Japan; and Filmuni­versität Babels­berg KONRAD WOLF, Pots­dam.

Ben­jamin is a found­ing mem­ber of the Inter­na­tion­al Co-Pro­duc­tion Net­work (ICPN) and a co-organ­izer of that organization’s inaug­ur­al scholarly/industry con­fer­ence, “European Co-Pro­duc­tion Sym­posi­um” at the Uni­ver­sity of Copen­ha­gen.

Ben­jamin holds a PhD in Cinema & Media Stud­ies and an MFA in Cre­at­ive Pro­du­cing from Uni­ver­sity of Cali­for­nia, Los Angeles (UCLA), and an MA in Radio/Television/Film from the Uni­ver­sity of Texas at Aus­tin.
